2019 SEA GAMES PH women’s volleyball lineup

The 2019 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 30th Southeast Asian Games or 2019 SEA Games and commonly known as Philippines 2019 will be the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial regional multi-sport event which will be hosted by the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019.

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine volleyball has taken another step forward as it prepares for its medal bid during the country’s hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games later this year.

On Friday, March 8, Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas (LVPI) unveiled the national team training pools for the women’s, men’s and women’s under-23 squads.

With 8 months to go before the regional biennial meet, the selected players will compete for the 14 slots in each lineup while two more players will be listed as reserves.

As  the Philippine women’s volleyball team begged off from 3 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) tournaments, the LVPI plans to hold an International Cup in the country this June or July.

The national volleyball teams hope to match, at the very least, the country’s bronze-medal finish in the 2005 Manila SEA Games.

In the last edition, the women’s team fell just a rung short of a podium finish at 4th place while the men’s team wound up 5th in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Games

MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Valdez is set to make her third straight Southeast Asian Games stint as she banners the Philippine national women’s volleyball team in the biennial meet that the country will host next month.

The power-hitter and crowd-drawer will carry the nation’s pride alongside a good mix of new and returning players with the mission of ending a 14-year podium drought.

Aside from Valdez, skipper Aby Marano, setter Rhea Dimaculangan, who skipped last year’s Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games, and Jovelyn Gonzaga are also suiting up for the tricolors for the third time since the country’s return to the regional sports meet in 2015 in Singapore.

The Philippines’ last podium finish was back in the 2005 Manila edition when the Filipinas led by Tina Salak and Ging Balse finished third.

Also making it to the 14-woman roster are setter Jia Morado, middle blockers Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron, who won back-to-back Best Middle Blockers in the ASEAN Grand Prix, Maddie Madayag, wingers Ces Molina, Eya Laure, Mylene Paat and Fil-American Kalei Mau and liberos Dawn Macandili, the ASEAN Grand Prix second leg Best Libero, and Kath Arado.

Action in the volleyball competition will begin on Nov. 28 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
